Materials:

  • markers
  • tape
  • stickers
  • stapler
  • scissors
  • glitter and glue
  • any other decorations you'd like

Directions:

  • Using a 9X12 piece of paper, fold to form a square as shown (View 1 and 1a).
  • Cut the remaining portion of the paper as shown (View 1a). Keep the strip you just cut. You'll need it for the handle of your basket.
  • Unfold and cut along the crease, stopping at the center of the square (which turned, now looks like a diamond) as shown (View 2).
  • Begin creating your basket by folding corner C up to Corner D (View 3).
  • Continue folding Corner E to Corner F (View 4).
  • Your basket will be complete when you fold Corner G to Corner H (View 5).
  • Staple your May Basket at the corners indicated by the Xs (View 6).
  • Decorate the basket on one or both sides. Allow any glue to dry before continuing.
  • Cut the strip you had leftover at the beginning down the middle-lengthways and tape or staple the ends together to make a long handle (View 7).
  • Staple the handle to the sides of the basket (View 8).
  • Fill the basket with whatever you want (real grass, fresh picked spring flowers, paper flowers scented with perfume, homemade cookies, mini muffins or candy).
