Materials:

• Sheet craft foam one of each color red, white & blue
• Pencil
• Ruler
• Scissors
• White glue
• Tongue depressor

On white sheet of craft foam draw a 2 1/2-inch star & an 8 inch by 5 1/2 inch rectangle. Cut out and put aside.

Draw and cut out a 3 and 3/8 inch by 2 1/2 inch rectangle out of the blue craft foam. Glue blue rectangle to the upper left corner of white rectangle. Glue star in middle of blue rectangle. Using red foam draw and cut out 4 strips measuring 8 inches by 3/8 inch and 3 strips of 4 1/2 by 3/8 inches. Starting at the top, glue a 4 1/2 strip across the upper right hand side of rectangle, matching edges with the blue rectangle. Measure 3/8 inch down from the first strip and glue on the next 4 1/2 strip. Repeat one more time. Glue the first 8-inch strip across the white rectangle right below the blue rectangle. Measure 3/8 inch down and glue next 8-inch strip. Repeat two more times. When glue is dried, turn over. On the bottom edge in the middle of the back, glue half of the tongue depressor leaving the other half so that it sticks out over the bottom edge. When glue is dried your plant stake is ready to be put into a house planter or outside garden on special holidays.
