Combine this with Tongue Depressor Puppets

Materials:

  • Shoe box
  • Construction paper
  • Scissors
  • White glue
  • Pencil
  • Markers
  • Optional clear contact paper
Directions:

Pick a theme for your shoebox theater. The theme can be a scene from a book, movie or maybe your home. Out of construction paper cut out backgrounds for bottom, top, and sides for the inside of box. Glue backgrounds to the inside of box. Next, cut out shapes of construction paper for the objects in your scene such as, trees, house, furniture, pets, etc. Glue them into place on the background. You can use markers to draw in objects too, especially small details. Cover and decorate box lid with construction paper. To make your Shoebox Theater more durable you can cover them with clear contact paper. You can use the shoebox lid as a stand for the tongue depressor puppet craft by using scissors or a craft knife to make small slits in the box lid, carefully pushing tongue depressor puppet through slit. This craft can be fun to use with finger puppets, action figures, and small dolls such as trolls. You can make several boxes and stack them together for a small dollhouse.
