Twenty-Five is a card game from Ireland. The game is for all ages and is best
played with at least three people, but no more than seven for each deck of cards.
If you have more than seven interested players, break up into groups for multiple
games. For more fun, continually mix the groups after each winning round.
The object of the game is to earn 25 points by taking tricks; each trick is worth
five points.
Rules:
- Aces are low and the
face cards are high.
- A dealer is selected
to deal seven cards to each person, laying the unused portion of the deck off
to the side.
- The dealer begins the
game by laying down a card of his/her choice and each player must follow suit.
The highest card in the lead suit takes the trick.
- Everyone must play a
card each round. If you do not have a card in the suit led, you must lay
down another card from your hand that you think is least valuable.
- The person who takes
the trick will lead next.
- Each trick is worth five
points and the first person to reach 25 points wins.
Little ones in the group who
do not know their numbers can play along with someone else. No one needs
to be left out in this game. It moves quickly and keeps everyone thinking.
