Shake, Rattle
& Roll is a dice game for the entire family. Here's what you need to play: dice
(it works best if each player has their own, but you could share if you're in
a pinch) and 15 pieces of candy per person (like gum balls, hard candy, etc.).
The game works best with groups of three or more.
Each player
starts with 15 pieces of candy. Everyone rolls and the highest roller goes first
following the rules below:
If you roll a
one - pass a piece to the person on your right
If you roll a two - pass a piece to the person to your left
If you roll a three - pass a piece to the middle of the table (the pot)
If you roll a four, five or six - no passing and the next person rolls
The game continues
only as long as each player still has pieces of candy left. Throughout the course
of the game everyone's candy ends up in the pot.
When the game
gets down to a point where only one person has a piece of candy left, one of four
things will happen when they roll: they will either roll a one and pass the piece
of candy to the player on his/her right (then it's that players turn); roll a
two and pass the piece of candy to the player on his/her left (then it's that
players turn); win the pot by rolling a four, five or six; or send their piece
of candy to the pot by rolling a three. If the player rolls a three and the candy
goes to the pot, no one wins that game but the pot doubles and you play again
to see who the big winner is.
This game
has always been a family favorite at our house, especially around the holidays
when you have relatives over. It's perfect for anyone who can count the numbers
on the die. It moves quickly and keeps everyone thinking.
