Materials:
Blanket
stick 'fishing pole'
string and clothespin
small lightweight prizes, i.e. beads, plastic cars, sunglasses
plastic cups and wrapped candy
pennies and small bowls
wrapped lollipops
empty soda cans
sand pails and shovels
glue, stickers, markers, glitter
Directions:
When kids arrive, give each
a plastic sand pail and let them decorate with glitter, glue, etc. These are prize
and favor buckets for the goodies they will collect during the party.
Games: Knockin' Kans - Stack three cans and have kids take turns knocking them
down with a ball. Three tries to knock all cans down.
Candy toss and Pennies toss: Each kid gets a turn at tossing candy into cups and
pennies into bowls.
Lollipop Grab: With stickers, number lollipops and kids get a chance to choose
a lollipop. Certain numbers that you've chosen are winners.
All winners of these various games get a chance to 'go fishin' for prizes. Build
a wall with a blanket hung over a line. Kids get to fish over the wall with pole
which has clothespin on the end of string. Adult on other side of blanket clamps
prize on clothespin, and yanks pole so child can pull it back and see what he
or she won.
Some theme ideas for parties: Backwards party, where invitations are written backwards,
kids arrive with clothes on backwards, dessert comes first, followed by chips,
then hotdogs, etc. Kids sit backwards at the table, walk backwards, etc.
